We can assist you if you wish to apply for a work permit in Denmark.
To obtain a work permit, you must meet certain requirements if you are not a Nordic or EU citizen. In principle, there must be significant employment or business-related reasons that support you being granted a permit. The work permit is granted for a specific job for a specific number of hours per week with a specific employer for a limited period. Therefore, you usually need to apply for a new work permit if you change jobs.
You must not work until you have received your permit. Working illegally in Denmark risks deportation, and the employer may face fines or imprisonment.
We recommend reaching out to one of our lawyers if you want to ensure that you meet the requirements for a work permit.

Occupational schemes make it easier to get a work permit
Denmark has a number of occupational schemes that make it easier for highly skilled foreigners to obtain residence and work permits in Denmark. These include:
- Positive lists
- The payment scheme
- Fast-track scheme
Positive lists
Positive lists covers specific occupational groups where it is difficult to attract qualified labor. It requires specific work to benefit from the scheme. Remember to check the list regularly, as it is adjusted twice a year. Salary and employment conditions must comply with Danish law.
The payment scheme
The payment scheme covers foreigners who have been offered a job with an annual salary of at least DKK 445,000.00.
Fast-track scheme
Fast-track scheme allows certified Danish companies to attract highly skilled foreign labor in a faster way. It places some demands on both the company and the employee. It is the employer who takes care of the application process via a power of attorney.
The scheme allows you to work alternately in Denmark and abroad.
